HANLEY GRANGE ECO-TOWN SUBMISSION PUBLISHED
The Hanley Grange project team has published its submission to the Department for Communities and Local Government for an eco-town in South Cambridgeshire.
The submission provides an update on initiatives proposed at the site and gives more detail on the vision for Hanley Grange. Set within the over-arching objectives to deliver more housing and to create a development which is low carbon and resilient to climate change, a set of ten principles that underpin the proposals have been published to show how the development will become a successful eco-town through:
Empowering the community
Promoting local employment
Delivering innovative design
Delivering social and physical infrastructure
Creating green and environmental space
Tackling transport
Addressing water use
Recycling and waste management
Cutting CO2 emissions
Delivering new housing
The submission also details the stages that the evolving masterplan has passed.
Nick West, Project Director for Hanley Grange, commented: “Over the last three months we have been in consultation with the government, local authorities, residents and other interested organisations in the area. This has helped the project team to further refine the proposals for the site.
“We strongly believe that Hanley Grange offers an opportunity to become an exemplar of a truly sustainable community and to set a clear benchmark for others to follow.
“Hanley Grange offers the potential to transform the way people live for the better, not just in South Cambridgeshire but in other developments across the UK. Over the coming months we will be developing the next stage of the masterplan and detailed submission due at the end of August. We look forward to the opportunity to deliver an eco-town of which successive generations in Britain can be proud.”
