Located 4 and half miles south of Cambridge and one mile east of junction 10 of the M11 within the ‘high-tech’ cluster, Hanley Grange is surrounded by several major employment sites and will give people the chance to live closer to where they work. Within close vicinity from Whittlesford and Great Chesterford railway stations on the London to Cambridge rail line, Hanley Grange is also on the Cambridge to Saffron Walden bus route. Additional bus services will link the new settlement with the “high-tech” cluster sites and local railway stations as well as offering improved services to Cambridge. These excellent public transport connections are complemented by convenient access to major roads including the A505, the A11 and the M11. The proposals will also encourage other sustainable methods of transport, with pedestrian and cycle links to Whittlesford railway station and throughout the site.
Situated in a highly sustainable location near local employment centres, Hanley Grange can support the continued growth of the South Cambridge ‘high tech’ cluster that is vital to the local and regional economy. It has excellent public transport links and offers the potential to become an exemplar sustainable development. Providing a better balance between jobs and homes to the south of Cambridge, the project will deliver a new type of community in which people can live and work. That is why the government selected Hanley Grange from a total of 57 proposals to be one of the 15 shortlisted schemes for “eco-town” status.
This website is designed to let you know more about our plans as they unfold. Our proposals are still at an early stage, so no further details are available at this time. However, our project team will be consulting with local people as the scheme evolves and before the proposals goes through the normal planning process.
